Harriet began her PhD in 2014 after being awarded the John C Marshall PhD Studentship. Harriet came from a background in clinical neuropsychology having worked within the field of neuro-oncology for two years during her Masters. Harriet's PhD project is on the subject of Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), a rare type of dementia usually associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. The project aims to better characterize the specific visual and movement problems associated with the disease, with an aim to develop a sensitive screening tool to be used to detect the disease early. Other rare types of Alzheimer’s Disease will also be investigated in order to determine whether PCA is a separate clinical syndrome, or part of a common spectrum. Harriet is supervised by Dr. Rob McIntosh and Dr. Thomas Bak.
