Dr Lucy Stirland

Lucy is an academic psychiatrist. She gained her medical degree in 2010, started psychiatry training in 2012 and later specialised in old age psychiatry. Between 2016 and 2019 she took time out of clinical training to do a PhD at the University of Edinburgh. Her current post as a Clinical Lecturer is split between the NHS, where she is an ST6 (registrar) in old age psychiatry, and academic work in the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences. She studies the epidemiology of mental illness in people with multiple chronic conditions. Her research uses data from both NHS Scotland and the Lothian Birth Cohort 1936.
