This project aims to explore both conceptually and practically the therapeutic relationship in counselling for people with dementia.
Funding
This studentship is funded by the Charity Alzheimer Scotland who underpin the funding for the Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre.
- The scholarship is available as a 3 year PhD
- Tuition fees at the standard UK/EU rate

Clinical Research Fellow - Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre
This is a full-time post funded by Alzheimer Scotland. The post holder will be based in the Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre. The post holder will investigate predictors of dementia in Scottish longitudinal ageing cohorts. Scotland has several world-leading ageing cohorts with detailed cognitive data together with genetic, neuroimaging, health and psychosocial data. Scotland also benefits from superb health informatics which facilitates identification of health outcomes at an individual level.
This post is full-time, available from 1 August 2018 on a fixed term basis for a period of 3 years.
The appointment will be made at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications on the AMN2 scale.

Pilot Study Fund
Maximum value of any one award is £10,000.
The centre invites applications for pilot studies to further dementia research in Scotland. If successful, the chief applicant would become a member of the Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre.
Applicants should justify how the pilot study would lead to increasing dementia research capacity in Scotland, including a clear plan of how the pilot study will lead to further grant applications.
Pilot studies that seek to develop novel methods or resources are particularly welcome.
Having funded a number of highly successful pilot studies, this fund is no longer available at this time.

This year the John Marshall PhD studentship is offered collaboratively between the Department of Psychology and the Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre. Applications are invited on any topic focussing on cognition in dementia.
